If you’re on the hunt for an authentic taste of Malaysian Chinese cuisine, Meng Kee Char Siew Wantan Mee is a revelation waiting to be discovered. Nestled at 48, Jalan Kuchai Maju 6, Kuchai Entrepreneurs Park, this beloved noodle restaurant has garnered a loyal following for its delectable dishes that dance between tradition and flavor.

A Symphony of Flavors

Step inside, and you’ll be greeted by the tantalizing aroma of freshly grilled Honey Char Siew wafting through the air, beckoning you to indulge. The star of the menu is undoubtedly the char siew wantan mee—a dish that delivers a deliciously memorable experience. The wantan noodles, thin and springy, provide the perfect canvas for the succulent, caramelized char siew, which bursts with smoky sweetness. Patrons rave about the al dente texture of the noodles, with one customer describing them as “tender, chewy and spongy,” creating an irresistible bite that keeps you coming back for more.

For just RM5.50, you can experience a meal that many argue is among the most affordable in town. Opting for the larger portion—just an additional RM1—might leave you with enough to share, but trust us, you’ll likely want it all for yourself!

What to Expect

The ambiance at Meng Kee is simple and unpretentious, featuring basic decor that highlights the focus on food rather than frills. Though the space may get crowded, especially during peak hours, this lively atmosphere only enhances the experience, filled with the chatter of satisfied customers and the hustle of the kitchen. Be prepared to wait, it's worth it—as the saying goes, good food takes time.

This place offers one of the cheapest meals in town, with their wantan meet starting from RM5.50. It's usually packed at peak hours and you need to wait a bit. The wantan mee is thin and springy, and if you add RM1 for a big portion it's enough to feed two TBH. Reminder to everyone, this place is cash only, meaning no ewallet or any other ways of payment except cold, hard, cash. If you aren't reminded, don't worry, there is over 20 notices all over the shop to remind you.

This is one of the best char siew wanta nee you can find in KL. Ordered the char siew dry noodle, and it tastes very delicious and the noodle it self was tender, chewy and spongy and not mushy. And the char siew was tasty but just a bit too sweet for my taste. The shop decor is old and empty with simple chair and table arrangement. And pls remember only accept cash here, no e wallet and credit card.

GOOD CHAR SIEW, GOOD WAN TAN MEE! You know it’s good when the shop’s rather plain decor doesn’t stop patrons from flocking in. Wan tan mee is al dente and char siew is soft, tender and perfectly caramelised. Will be back soon

This place close early so I can only had it during weekend. Offers Wan Tan Noodle with a variety of sides including Wan Tan (Soup/Fried), Siew Cheong, Shredded Chicken, Minced Pork, Char Siew, etc. Also has Prawn Wan Tan Hot Fun, Nasi Lemak, etc. Other snacks includes Dumplings (Soup/Fried), Mushroom Chicken Feet, etc. Atmosphere: 3.5 Service: 3.5 Food: Wan Tan Mee (Dry) 4 Noodles texture is very nice (hard), sauce is also flavourful (light color) but can be a bit oily. The pork Wantan is very basic but it's not overcooked like most places, the skin is still very chewy and nice but it is small as usual. The cha siu is very nice here; tender, juicy and well roasted (very fragrant) and it has those melting fat that some people like (me not too much). One of the more affordable food around this area priced at Rm 8.50 Sides: Dumpling (Soup) 3.25 Sides: Dumpling (Fried) 3.25 Likely filled but Rm 1.60 each (Rm 8 for 5) Drinks: Chinese Tea (Cold) Priced at Rm 1

Summary 3.5/5: Cheap eat, delicious wantan noodles, plain wantan. Cash only. If you're craving legit wantan noodles, this is the kind that hits the spot. Stumble upon this humble, old-school kopitiam, cash-only, and buzzing with hungry locals. The wait? Yeah, it's a bit of a marathon - 15 minutes (when the restaurant only 50% full), but the wait is worth it. Those noodles? Perfectly al dente and flavourful, they know what they're doing. And the dumplings? Five chunky pieces for RM8, bursting with a delightful water chestnut crunch. The wantan, bless their tiny hearts, were a bit pale in comparison, but hey, they tasted natural! For RM24, we feasted on noodles, dumplings, and drinks. It's a bargain! Service was...well, let's say they're busy. But for those prices and those noodles? I'm coming back.
